It’s Something [Updated]

I doubt I’ll vote for his re-election.

I doubt he’ll get re-elected.

I absolutely abhor his rigidity about abortion.  Anyone who didn’t see his support for the Stupak amendment coming hasn’t been paying attention.  That was the only way he would vote for it.

I suspect I’ll be disappointed about major aspects of any health care reform legislation that eventually gets signed into law.

But what the heck, why not give Joseph Cao credit for voting with the Dems Saturday night?  It’s more than I expected from him, and even though a pro-health care reform vote was essential to any hopes he has of getting re-elected, I do think his vote required some courage.  Certainly more than Charlie Melancon exhibited.

That said, I have no illusions.  Cao’s godawful about cap and trade.

Update: Rep. Cao is now learning a little something about conservatives.  At least the loud bigoted ones.  From Matthew Yglesias:

There’s also a whole bunch of folks who’ve decided that it’d be hilarious to start referring to Rep. Cao as “Mao” because, you see, they’re both responsible for the deaths of millions Asians. Also this.
